Elective Courses

The Licensed Vocational Nursing program offers an elective course to enhance the student’s educational knowledge. The elective course is not required for completion of the program. Students must be currently enrolled in the Licensed Vocational Nursing program or hold a valid LVN license to be eligible to register in the elective course.

INTRAVENOUS THERAPY AND BLOOD WITHDRAWAL (NURS 213)

Basic concepts, principles, and techniques of I.V. therapy and blood withdrawal. Emphasis is on the acquisition of venipuncture and blood withdrawal skills. Course meets requirements of the BVNPT for application to the BVNPT for IV certification. Pass/no pass grading. Total of 27 lecture and 27 hours laboratory.

Enrollment Limitation: Enrollment in the licensed vocational nursing program or licensure as a LVN nurse.
